The city of Oroville is hosting a community outreach meeting to discuss the annexation of portions of south Oroville.
City officials are moving forward with the heavily debated plans to annex the unincorporated community known as Oroville. With a 5-2 vote the Oroville City Council approved a resolution declaring the city's intent to bring south Oroville and three other unincorporated areas into the city's fold.
The other areas include the Pacific Heights and Garden Drive neighborhoods and the land currently within the El Medio Fire Protection District Area.
The annexation process now goes forward to Butte County's local agency formation commission, which is in charge of ensuring orderly annexations.
