Cioppino Feed in Chico serves up big money for Boys & Girls Club

The cioppino over flowed at the 2015 Cioppino Feed and Auction in Chico this afternoon. This is the first year for the event to benefit the Chico Boys & Girls Club.

The lunch, from 11:00 to 2:30pm today was held in the Northgate Aviation Hangar at the Chico Airport. Tickets sold out. 400 people in all attended, paying $100. a ticket. The inaugural cioppino feed served up 600 pounds of cioppino.

Rob Ramay, the event organizer and auctioneer, says the Boys and Girls Club of Chico is an organization that is run efficiently in serving its mission statement.

The CEO of the Boy's & Girls Club, Rashell Brobst, says she was honored to be the beneficiary of the cioppino feed, "It's been unbelievable. The support and the people coming forth and all the new people that have never known about the Boys & Girls Club or what we do are now learning and engaging and being a part of what we do every day for kids. So it's exciting for us."

The cioppino, by the way, was made by New Hock Farm Catering. Plane rides were auctioned off, as well as pies donated by Sweet Cottage. One pie went for $700.

The goal was to raise $50,000. The Boy's & Girls Club hopes to use the money to purchase a new bus. Organizers say the event will be held again.
