CHP Officer injured in Yuba-Sutter crash

An on duty California Highway Patrol Officer was taken to Sierra-Nevada Hospital for minor injuries after his patrol car collided with Subaru on State Road 20 at Hammonton-Smartville Road.

The accident happened just before 7:30 p.m. when CHP Officer Mark Morrison was driving eastbound on SR-20 approaching the Hammonton-Smartville Road intersection. Amber Tarp, of Roseville was traveling northbound on Hammonton-Smartville when she pulled out in front of Officer Morrison’s patrol car after being stopped for a stop sign. Officer Morrison hit the Subaru while traveling at approximately 55 mph. Both vehicles sustained major damage and both drivers suffered major injuries.

Both lanes of SR-20 were blocked for almost two hours, however traffic was detoured around the scene and there were no major delays.
