A man was killed in Millville Monday when he lost control of his pickup and struck two trees, causing the vehicle to go up in flames.
Emergency crews were called to the area of Old 44 Drive and Oak Run Road in Millville around 1:30 p.m. California Highway Patrol officials say the driver of Chevrolet pickup was travelling eastbound on Old 44 when he drifted to the right side of the roadway.
The man overcorrected and struck two trees. The truck went up in flames when it came to rest on its roof.
CHP officials say the man who died was the driver, but CHP officials say they’ve received reports that another party was involved.
Officer Christopher King says there was word that somebody may have been ejected and taken off, but they also heard that could’ve been a passerby that stopped to remove nearby gas cans.
The age and race of the man has yet to be determined, and officials don’t know whether drugs or alcohol were a factor.
