It was anything but a smooth ride home from school for several students. According to the California Highway Patrol, initial indications reveal that a 21 year old woman driving a Jeep Cherokee didn't notice a woman in a Kia had stopped in front of her to make a turn. Investigators say she tried to stop at the last second, but still slammed into the back of the Kia. The Jeep skidded onto it's side, and a 12 year old boy who was not wearing his seatbelt was ejected. But the CHP says a witness saw the wreck unfold, and said when the Jeep came to a stop, the child was clinging to the luggage rack like "Spiderman." The officer on scene says it's amazing the boy was not crushed. The boy was life-flighted to the hospital as a precautionary measure, according to the CHP. The driver of the Kia was also taken to the hospital. The extent of her injuries is not known, but they are not described as life-threatening. Photo courtesy of John Lowe/Oroville Mirror
