A Chico woman has been sentenced to 180 days in jail for threatening to kill her boyfriend’s mom, and the woman’s Chihuahua.

Prosecutors say 30-year-old Angelina Fred drunkenly pulled a kitchen knife on her boyfriend’s mother during an argument October 15. While holding the knife Fred tried unsuccessfully to grab the victim’s Chihuahua.

The victim told Chico police Fred had made verbal threats to her and her dogs life while trying to cut the dogs throat.

Fred told the county probation department she could not remember the attack because she was drinking too much that day, but she was remorseful for her actions.

In addition to 180 days in jail, Fred will be on probation for three years and is barred from living with anyone with a dog.
