A Chico taxi company is giving back in the fight against cancer.

Liberty Cab is holding a 24 hour Ride for Life right now in support of the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.

All the drivers sign up for one hour legs and donate their fares to relay for life.

At the end of the 24-hours, which began at six a.m., Liberty will then match all the money raised.

Gianni Caponera, owner of Liberty Cab in Chico, said he has a personal connection to the cause that his company is supporting.

“I've had cancer in my family,” he said. “We've had drivers that are cancer survivors, it affects everybody.”

Chico's Relay for Life is being held on May 14th beginning at 10 a.m. and will run for 24 hours at Pleasant Valley High School.

Redding will hold its Relay for Life on April 30 at Shasta College.
