Nearly three dozen Chico students were treated to an after school shopping spree compliments of the Salvation Army Tuesday afternoon.
Underprivileged students from Chapman Elementary School shopped at Target for over an hour Tuesday afternoon, purchasing everything from shirts, shoes, pencils, and paper.
The Salvation Army partnered with Noon Rotary Club of Chico and gave each student $100. The students were paired with a volunteer, and off they went.
The organizations raised more than $3500 for the shopping spree, and after the exhausting afternoon of shopping the McDonald's on Notre Dame Boulevard treated the students to a Happy Meal.
The shopping spree for the Chico grade school students has been held for more than a decade.
