Chico State track and field team set to defend conference titles

After another successful regular season, the Chico State track and field program is ready for the CCAA Championships, where the men's team seeks to win its 12th consecutive conference title, and the women's team is gunning for their sixth in a row.

The action begins from San Francisco State's Cox Stadium Thursday morning, continues all day Friday and concludes with another full day of action on Saturday.

The Wildcat men are ranked No. 14 in the nation and No. 1 in the West Region, but figure to get challenged by West No. 3 Cal Poly Pomona and No. 4 UC San Diego.

The Chico State women, ranked No. 26 in the nation and second in the West Region, will need to be at their best to overcome CCAA foes Humboldt State (No. 29 in the nation) and UC San Diego (No. 39)in order to once again bring home the conference championship banner.
