Sandra Chesterman, the mother of 21-year-old Kristina Chesterman, called our newsroom to inform us doctors at Enloe Medical Center told the family Kristina showed no brain activity after test results came back this afternoon. She was pronounced brain dead at 1:40 p.m. Kristina will be kept on life support for a few days to keep her organs healthy for donation in accordance to Kristina’s wishes. Kristina had been listed in critical condition since being ran over by a drunk driver on Nord Avenue in Chico late Sunday evening.

Riley Hoover, the 19-year-old Chico Resident charged with felony hit and run and DUI, is scheduled for his first court appearance tomorrow at 3 p.m. We are waiting to receive confirmation from District Attorney Mike Ramsey if his office will seek vehicular manslaughter charges.

Kristina was a senior at Chico State and was enrolled in the university's nursing program.
