A busy Nord Avenue crosswalk is now safer for the hundreds of Chico State students who cross the busy street every day. Student can now stop traffic both ways by activating the newly installed stoplights now that the $200,000 project is done.
According to Caltrans, about 900 pedestrians, mostly college students, cross the crosswalk just north of Steward Avenue during the daytime. Before the stoplights, getting across the unsignaled crosswak was a bit hazardous with about 11,000 vehicles passing through that same area.
