The Chico State softball team broke out the bats in a big way Sunday en route to a doubleheader sweep over Southern Oregon at University Softball Field.

Chico State defeated the Raiders 9-1 in six innings in the first game, then followed that up with a five-inning, 14-2 victory in the nightcap.

The Wildcats tallied 23 runs on 24 hits with three homers on the day.

Chico State shortstop Emily McEnaney collected six hits, reaching base seven times and knocking in seven runs. The senior went 4-for-4 in the second game, slugging a three-run homer with six runs batted in.

Tori Zimmermann also turned in a fantastic performance, going 5-for-7 with two doubles and five RBI. Desiree' Gonzalez added her first home run of the year in the opener, and Courtney Brown hit a solo shot in the second game. Alli Cook pounded out four hits, crossed the plate four times and swiped three bags to help fuel the Cats' offensive onslaught.

Chico State (3-1) opens up CCAA play next weekend with a four-game series against Cal State East Bay. Both Friday and Saturday doubleheaders are slated to begin at noon.
