Chico State's Gelfand named semifinalist for Brett Tomko Award

Chico State starting pitcher Clayton Gelfand has been named a semifinalist for the 2016 Brett Tomko Pitcher of the Year Award.

The honor, present by D2 Baseball News, is handed out to the top-performing pitcher in NCAA Division II.

Gelfand is one of 41 pitchers in the running for the prestigious honor.

The righty is 8-4 with a 2.19 ERA in 86-plus innings of work with 75 strikeouts.

The winner will be announced Monday, June 6th.
