Chico State is one of the best colleges in the nation when it comes to sending students to study abroad. That's according to the Institute of International Education. Chico State was ranked 2nd in the country this year for student participation. The university had more than 300 students study abroad last year with nearly a third of them going for a full academic year. The program is no stranger to success. It has been ranked 3rd nationally for the past 5 years.
"Less than 10% of American students are studying abroad. That means when our students go to graduate they're going to be top of the class when they go to find those jobs. They're going to really stand out and be able to market themselves in a way that other students aren't able to," says Jennifer Gruber, study abroad coordinator for Chico State.
San Francisco State was ranked number one. Other CSUs that earned rankings include Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (4), California State University, Long Beach (4), San Jose State University (6), California State University, Northridge (11), Sacramento State (19) and California State University, San Marcos (20). Chico State offers study abroad programs in 30 countries and 80 cities around the world.
