Chico State grad killed in horrific crash in San Diego

A Chico State graduate and former baseball player, Christian Franco, 37, was killed in a horrific car crash early Friday morning in San Diego.

According to NBC 7 San Diego, Franco drove his Jaguar into a guard rail at approximately 1:45 a.m. Friday. The impact tore open the left side of the car, he was ejected from the vehicle and died on the scene.

At Chico State Franco was star baseball player and an outfielder on Chico State’s 1999 national championship team. Franco went on to play baseball in the minor leagues.

The Chico State baseball team is playing at UC San Diego this weekend and a moment of silence was held for Franco during Friday’s game.
