Chico State excels in Forbes social media competition

Every year Forbes magazine ranks America's top colleges based on graduation rate, student satisfaction and post grad success, but this year they added a social media campaign to the mix and the Chico State community stepped up.

Forbes asked students, alumni and faculty to use the Twitter, Facebook and Instagram hashtag #MyTopCollege to tell others what makes their college so special. Over 300 of the schools featured on the Forbes top colleges list participated in the campaign and more than 35,000 tweets were recorded.

Chico State's support propelled the school all the way to a 6th place finish in the competition.

Chico State sent a tweet out thanking the community for the support Wednesday morning.

"@chicostate: Wow! Thanks for making Chico your #MyTopCollege. We ranked 6th (up against some big schools)"

California State University, Fullerton finished first in the #MyTopCollege competition.

When it came to the Forbes experts take on America's top college, Williams College, in Williams, Massachusetts was ranked first, with Stanford finishing second.
