A college campus is not typically known as a place to find a great meal, but Chico State has been ranked as one of the best colleges for food in the United States.

The Daily Meal recently released a list of the "75 Best Colleges for Food in America" and Chico State was listed in ranked No. 65.

The Daily Meal says "Cal State, Chico is always looking to engage their students in the culinary experience." During the school year Chico State held a student recipe contest, giving students a chance to see their recipes featured in campus dining halls and events like National Eggs Benedict Day and Black History Month Soul Food Night gave students an opportunity to create community.

The Daily Meal also pointed to several student intern positions for sustainability initiatives and Sutter Hall's eco-friendly design as key resigns why Chico State leads the way in the college food world.

The colleges that ranked in the top 5 on the list were, in order: Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine; Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore; Columbia University in New York; Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Ga.; Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.
