The city of Chico slashed funding to the Chico branch of the Butte County library.
Officials are now looking to see if those cuts will have an impact on the services they provide.
The Chico branch was expecting to receive about $100,000 from the city of Chico, but was awarded only $75,000.
County officials say they're hoping they can work with city officials on closing the money gap.
Funding from the city of Chico helps provide additional hours for the library.
Butte County spends about $3 million annually to fund all six libraries.
Library officials are hoping to keep the library hours consistent since library use is up in Chico.
