Chico's Nahshon Garrett wins wrestling title at Cliff Keen Invitational

Nahshon Garrett, a 2011 graduate of Chico High, won the championship title on Saturday at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational for Cornell University, defeating defending NCAA Champion Cody Brewer of Oklahoma in the 133-pound finals by a 14-9 decision.

Nahshon, a three-time NCAA Division I All-American whose career record is now 127-12, defeated Cord Coronado of Arizona State by 18-2 technical fall, Rico Montoya of Northern Colorado by pin, Josh Martinez of Air Force by an 11-3 major decision, George Dicamillo of Virginia 11-5 in the semifinals, and Brewer by a 14-9 decision on his route to winning his third Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational championship.

Garrett, who is now the #1-ranked wrestler in the country at 133-pounds, next competes in the Southern Scuffle Tournament in Chattanooga, Tennessee on January 1-2.
