Chico's Nahshon Garrett finshes fifth in NCAA Championships

Chico High graduate Nahshon Garrett, now a junor for Cornell University, earned fifth place and his third All-America honor at the NCAA Wrestling Championships Saturday at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.

The result was not exactly what the 125-pound Garrett was looking for. After finishing as the national runner-up at 125 pounds in 2014, Garrett was hoping to win a national title. But in his second match on Thursday, the second seeded Garrett fell to West Virginia's Zeke Moisey in a 5-2 decision, thus diminishing his national title chances.

However, Garrett rallied back to win five of six matches to secure his fifth place finish and his third straight All-America honor.

Garrett concludes another very impressive season with a 34-5 record.
