Chico's Leaf Collection Program

Fall is in the air and that means leaves are on the ground.

To help with the clean up, the City of Chico started its annual leaf collection program Friday. The goal: pick up the leaves and make the streets safer.

Phillip Cudney has been landscaping in Chico for the past 20 years. He says each leaf season gets harder to clean.

“The trees get bigger every year; they don't get smaller,” he said. “So, it's a pain.”

A pain and an increase for potential accidents.

“You get jerks that will drive by and they'll throw refrigerators in leaf piles,” Cudney said. “It’s not a safe time to drive around and think it’s okay to drive through the leaf piles.”
