The Chico Rebels under 13-team ended their season with a perfect 12-0 record Sunday, beating the Gold Country Stampede, 7-2, at Degarmo Park in Chico.
The Rebels end the year in first place in the Northern California Junior Lacrosse Association "B" division, which includes 57 teams, some from bigger regions like San Francisco and Sacramento.
Rebels coach John Whitmore couldn't be proud of his squad.
"It's just a fun team to coach, a group of hard-working boys. We started in January, our season actually started in February, we got about a month of extra practice in and it's showing up now. The boys come to practice everyday and listen to their coaches and it's paying off. I mean what 12-year old kid doesn't want to run around and hit somebody with a stick, it's a fun fast-paced sport and there's a spot for everybody on the field," Whitmore said.
The Rebels will play an exhibition tournament, the Treasure Island Jamboree, on May 17th and 18th in San Francisco.
Congrats to the Rebels!
