Chico Police Unsuccessful on locating Gunman

May 9, 2014 4:35 PM

Chico Police have cleared the scene of Menlo Pointe Apartments, after using a battering ram to make entry into a unit. They broke a window.

The call came out at 10:24am, and the office manager said a man came in and brandished a gun at her, but didn't have a motive. Nothing was stolen, no one was injured.

Police thought he was in the apartment, and they tried to talk to him with a bullhorn. Finally, just before 2pm, they made entry. Next step is to re-interview the office manager, but they don't have a lot to go on. He's white mid 30's wearing a camo shirt.

Chico Police are at the Menlo Pointe Apartments searching for a possible gunman who entered the leasing office and pointed a gun at the reporting party.

Initial reports say the man is wearing a camouflage jacket and had a handgun pistol on him.

Police have set up a perimeter around the apartment complex and have closed off Menlo Way from the Esplanade, according to the reporter on the scene.
We will have a live report from Action News Now reporter Cecile Juliette who is at the scene, coming up Action News Now at noon.
