Chico police are searching for a person who broke into the Chico Animal Shelter and took two pit bulls Tuesday night.

On Tuesday afternoon the shelter received a male pit bull type with tan fur and darker markings as well as a neutered male pit bull mix with black and white fur. The second dog has an old injury to his skull which has left a noticeable dent on the left side of his head above his ear.

According to police, sometime between 6 p.m. and 9 a.m. someone entered the shelter by removing a gate from its hinges and then forcing open a second gate. The kennels of both dogs were then damaged.

No suspect(s) has been identified and anyone with information is asked to contact the Chico Police Department at (530) 897-4911.
