Local law enforcement agencies released statistics from the holiday weekend Wednesday and say the overall activity level was manageable this year.
According to the Chico Police Department, 15 of their 61 arrests this weekend were of local college students. The department said on their Facebook page that the large crowds were "local in composition" and the level of cooperation was high.
With the exception of Sunday morning's murder outside the downtown 7-11, violent crimes were down this Labor Day as well.
In addition to the 61 arrests by Chico police, a DUI enforcement campaign by the California Highway Patrol, Chico and Valley divisions netted 55 arrests, 33 of which were for Driving Under the Influence.
