California Highway Patrol and Chico Police Department are on scene of what witnesses describe as a suspicious package at the California Department of Motor Vehicles office in Chico.
A black object was found at the main entrance to the DMV office around 8 a.m. near Parmac Road just off Cohasset Road Thursday morning. Employees reported the device to police who evacuated the DMV and parts of the Butte County Behavioral Health office, which is in the vicinity.
Police called in the bomb squad who are on their way to investigate the device.
Motorists and pedestrians are cautioned to avoid the area, if possible.
