It was a busy morning Thursday for the Chico Police Department Target Team and Chico Park Rangers as they conducted a sweep of illegal campers in Bidwell Park.

These are photos the department shared on their Facebook page from this morning's effort.

Officials say they issued several citations ranging from illegal camping and probation violations to possessing drug paraphernalia and offenses against public property.

Police said one man cited was from New York and another was from Santa Rosa.

The man from Santa Rosa was offered transportation back home through the department's HELP program.

The department's Target Team was formed last year to help enforce city laws on vagrancy and illegal camping while at the same time help Chico’s homeless connect to community resources to help get them off the streets and on their feet again.
