Chico Police arrest man in alleged string of arsons

Chico Police have made an arrest in the arson and vandalism spree Jan. 12 in Chico

Brandon Fields, 20 from Chico, was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with a single count of arson that caused an inhabited structure to burn and a single count of arson that caused property damage. He was taken into custody without incident.

Police said Fields was cooperative and provided detectives with a full confession of his involvement with the arsons. Fields was booked at Butte County Jail.


Chico Police are searching for suspects wanted for arson after starting at least two fires and vandalizing a building.

It happened early Tuesday morning in the area of Webster Drive and Notre Dame Boulevard.

Police say a motorcycle was lit on fire which spread to a car parked near it on New Dawn Circle around 2:30am Tuesday.

A boat was also set on fire on Webster Drive. Police found several windows broken at a building near Notre Dame Boulevard and Forest Avenue and an additional mailbox was also lit on fire.

Witnesses reported seeing three white male juveniles walking from the scene but no arrests have been made.
