Chico police officers arrested 59 people in the south campus area during Halloween weekend, and medics stayed busy responding to nearly 30 alcohol overdoses Halloween night.
Local authorities stayed busy both Friday and Saturday nights, but police say Friday was the most active, with 41 people arrested. Police say nearly half of the arrests were of people that do not live in Butte County.
Butte County medics were the busiest of all Friday night, responding to 27 alcohol overdoses.
Despite diminished crowds on Saturday night, 18 people were still arrested and the majority of people taken into custody Saturday were Butte County residents.
Police considered Friday and Saturday nights a "special event" and increased patrols significantly both nights. Despite all the arrests the city did not see any significant violence.
