Three people are behind bars in connection with a drive-by shooting. Police say this is the third gang related shooting in Chico, all of which happened within a 24 hour period. The three suspects taken into custody have been identified as Jasper Sandoval, 22, of Chico, Edgar Olivar, 19 of Oroville and a 16 year-old boy from Chico. Police say all of them are either affiliated with or are members of the Norteno street gang.

Witnesses say two people in ski masks got out of a black Chevy SUV and fired several shots at the Chico Trailer Haven mobile home park on Nord Avenue just before 3 p.m. Sunday. At least one car was hit. Police spotted the SUV and chased it to the University Court Apartments on Klondike Court. Police found two semi-automatic handguns that were thrown from the SUV during the chase.

The area where the trio was arrested is close to where police say there was another drive-by Saturday night. Just before 11 p.m. Saturday, someone fired shots from a red Toyota at a crowd. No one was hit, but a shell casing was found in the street. Chico Police are investigating whether these two shootings and a shooting near La Salle's bar are related. One man was injured in the downtown shooting, but is expected to survive.
