Police have arrested three suspects who they say are responsible for robbing a Chico gas station in May, one of whom was the clerk at the time of the robbery.
At around 10 p.m. on May 21 Chico Police responded to reports of an armed robbery at the Beacon gas Station on Fair Street.
The clerk, Donald Veteto, told police that a white or Hispanic male had entered wearing a mask, handed him a note demanding money and motioned his hand inside his sweatshirt to give the appearance he had a gun. Veteto handed over cash from the register and told police the suspect fled on foot.
The investigation was turned over to the Chico Police Detective Bureau. Detectives quickly found information leading them to believe that the clerk, Veteto may have conspired to burglarize the business.
On September 17 detectives served a search warrant at Veteto's home in Chico, and the home of his sister and brother-in-law Maranda and Fernando Medina. The evidence obtained during the search led investigators to believe Veteto conspired with his family member's to burglarize his employer.
On Wednesday all three suspects were arrested in their homes and booked into the Butte County Jail. All three suspects have been charged with conspiracy to commit burglary and grand theft.
