Chico's annual Pioneer Day Parade has been canceled due to what parade organizers are saying is a lack of community support.
Richard Elsom, Chair of the Pioneer Day Parade Committee, posted a message to the Parade's Facebook page Wednesday. "It is with sadness and a great deal of personal regret, that I must inform you of the cancellation of the 2015 Pioneer Day Parade," Elsom wrote.
In the post Elsom explained the reason behind the decision, saying organizers are about 25 percent behind in applications. "Much of the behind the scene's thing are done, but the things that remained to be done were huge and the rest of the community has not been showing the love, especially on parade day," Elsom said.
Parade organizers say this is not the end of the event. 2016 will mark the 20th anniversary of the parade and officials believe they can rally enough support to put on an exciting event.
