Chico's first ever Oral Cancer Awareness 5k Run/Walk will take place in Bidwell Park on Saturday April 9th.
In the U.S., someone dies of Oral Cancer every hour of the day. It's estimated that 48,250 people living in our country will be diagnoses with the disease this year.
The Run/Walk on April 9th is one of many taking place across America that day. It will benefit the Oral Cancer Foundation, a non profit dedicated to saving lives through prevention, education, research advocacy and support. All survivors can participate for FREE.
The event will include music and raffle prizes, coffee and snacks and t-shirts to the first 200 people who sign up. There will also be free oral cancer screenings and speeches from survivors.
It all takes place at the One Mile Recreation Area. Registration starts at 7 a.m. The Run starts at 8:15 a.m, and the Walk begins at 8:30 a.m.
