The Chico Nuts wrapped up pool play at the American Legion World Series in Shelby, North Carolina with a 3-1 loss to Columbia, Tennessee.
Ian Melton went 1 for 4 with an RBI and finished the World Series 8 of 13 for a .615 batting average.
Chico concluded their stay at the prestigious tournament with a disappointing 0-3 record, but the Nuts certainly have nothing to hang their heads about.
Chico won the state title for the second time in the past four years, captured the Western Regional tournament and advanced to the American Legion World Series for just the second time in program history.
The last team to make it this far was the Legionnaires in 1983.
