A Chico man and woman are in custody Thursday after a probation search led police to illegal firearms, stolen property and a sizable amount of marijuana.

Chico Police executed a probation search warrant on the home of Stephen Anthony Lezzeni, 30, and Nicole Jo Smith, 23, on the 1200 block of Stewart Avenue in Chico. No one was injured in the search.

During the search, detectives found two firearms in the residence, one of which was recently reported stolen from a home in Chico.

In addition to the firearms, police located a number of stolen items, including several credit cards that police said Lezzeni allegedly used at local businesses.

Police also located approximately two pounds of marijuana and various drug paraphernalia.

Police reported that two children lived in the home and because of the proximity of drug paraphernalia, Lezzeni will face child endangerment in addition to theft, drug and weapons charges.

Smith, the children’s mother, was also at the home and will also face child endangerment charges.

Both Lezzeni and Smith are currently being held in Butte County Jail.
