A Chico resident was sent to the hospital after suffering stab wounds after struggling with a burglar inside his apartment .
It happened shortly after five Saturday evening at the Chico Commons apartment complex on Amanda Way.
According to police, the suspect broke a sliding glass door and entered the apartment.
Chico Police Sgt. Scott Ruppel said, "The resident tried to subdue the suspect and received several stab wounds and then officers were able to take that person into custody."
Police at the scene did not release the identity of the victim or the suspect.
The victim was taken to Enloe Medical Center for treatment, but police say he did not suffer life threatening injuries.
The suspect will face charges of burglary and assault with a deadly weapon.
