A Chico man has been sentenced to life in prison for attempted murder, the Butte County District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday.

A jury found Robert Duane Duggan, 24, guilty of attempted murder and several other charges in May.

Duggan was arrested in April of 2014 for entering a man's Nord Avenue home and shooting at him eight times.

The victim, who was a friend of a friend, survived the shooting, but lost an eye. Duggan had claimed the man owed him money.

Duggan will not be eligible for parole until he has served at least 30 years in state prison.
