Chico Police say a 51-year-old Chico man was injured last night trying to prevent another man from stealing his car. It happened around 7:00 p.m. on the 500 block of Humboldt Road. Investigators say the man was loading the bed of his pickup truck in his driveway. The engine was off, but the keys were in the ignition and a man jumped in and started to drive off. The owner of the truck tried to grab the door, and he was injured in the process. The victim chased his vehicle and was able to catch up to it and grab the suspect through the drivers side open door. A brief struggle ensued but the victim was unable to get the suspect to stop. The victim was able to break free from the suspect and the vehicle fled the area. A short time later, the vehicle was located unoccupied on Natoma Ct. A search for the suspect was unsuccessful. The suspect is a Hispanic male in his 20's. The truck's owner suffered an injury to his arm. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Chico Police Department.
