Chico Police swarmed the Tinseltown Movie Theaters in Chico after employees reported a man acting suspicious inside.

It turns out the man, identified as 29-year-old Daniel Darrington, was carrying a loaded handgun in his backpack.

Police responded to the movie complex just after 4:00 p.m. Monday, after an employee called dispatch to report a suspicious man watching the "Mission Impossible-Rogue Nation" movie.

The employee told police they had first noticed the man during the same movie on Sunday, and that he had returned and was acting strangely.

Officers were able to contact the man and brought him outside for questioning.

Police tell Action News Now they searched his camouflage backpack and located loaded .45 caliber handgun inside.

Investigators say no threats were made, but they are still investigating why he brought a loaded gun to the movie theater.

Investigators searched Darrington's home with his consent and found no other evidence of criminal activity.

He was taken into custody and faces a charge of carrying a concealed loaded firearm in public.
