A 30-year-old Chico man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly sending sexually explicit messages and photos to an 11-year-old girl on Facebook.

The alleged sexually explicit messages and photos were discovered by the victim's older sister, who contacted police. The Chico Police Department took over the investigation and identified the suspect as Reginald Ealy Jr.

Investigators learned that Ealy did not know the victim, but started communicating with the her after he "followed" her posts on Facebook. The conversations turned sexual early on and Ealy had begun attempting to set up a meeting with the victim.

Police say detectives began to pose as the victim online and set up a meeting. On Wednesday, Ealy reportedly drove to Oak Park with the intent of meeting the victim and sexually molesting her.

Ealy was arrested for sending harmful matter with the intent to seduce a minor and contact of a minor with the intent to commit a sexual offense.

The Chico Police Department would like to remind the community that children who have access to social media and the internet are at risk. For more information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children click here.
