Chico man arrested after jumping off roof and fleeing from officers

A Chico resident was arrested early this morning after fleeing away from police after admitting using methamphetamine.

32-year-old Shawn Cox was reported yelling on a roof at the 2000 block of Magnolia Avenue around 2 a.m.

When cox refused to come down he jumped off the roof and began to flee on foot.

Officers chased him to the 1900 block of Mars Way where Cox attempted to enter an occupied home by smashing their window.

He then grabbed a piece of glass from the window and held it towards the officers.

After a brief standoff, Cox began cutting himself on the face and neck.

Officers eventually brought him to the ground and arrested him without further injuries.

None of the officers were hurt during the incident.

Cox was medically cleared at Enloe Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries and booked into Butte County jail.
