A 30-year-old Chico man is behind bars after taking officers on an allegedly drunken chase through downtown Chico Wednesday night, hitting multiple cars, and physically resisting arrest.

Chico Police Officer Jack Ditty attempted to pull over Sean Reardon in a blue Chevy Suburban around 9:45 p.m. for a vehicle code violation.

According to the affidavit, Reardon sped off, then pulled over. But when Officer Ditty walked up to the car Reardon sped off again. Officer Ditty jumped back in the patrol car and began pursuing Reardon and his passenger in a chase downtown.

Reardon hit a black Lexus on Salem Street near Sixth Street and kept driving. He then hit a parked car on Salem Street near Normal Street. Nobody was hurt in either collision.
Reardon exited the vehicle while his passenger remained seated in the car.

Reardon initially complied with orders to get on the ground, but then got back up and reached into his pockets. But after seemingly changing his mind again, Reardon obeyed.

More officers arrived on scene to assist with the arrest and attempted to handcuff Reardon, but he became insubordinate and struggled with the officers. At one point, he grabbed an officer and tore the pocket off his uniform.

An officer hit Reardon in the legs several times with a baton before arresting and taking him into custody.

Reardon faces the following charges:
-Recklessly evading a Police Officer
-Hit and Run
-Resisting arrest
-Driving with suspended license
-Driving under the influence
-Violation of probation
-Felony warrant for possession of firearm by felon with priors
-Misdemeanor warrant for DUI

The passenger in Reardon's car does not face any charges.
