The Chico Mall is getting a facelift starting this month with changes to both the inside and outside of the building. Construction crews started work Monday night on the renovation project. The design of the multi-million dollar makeover was drawn up with a specific theme in mind, Chico: City of Trees. The renovation will feature a complete floor to ceiling transformation, along with a new mall logo.

Mall Marketing Manager Lynette Myers says, "We want to create a whole new shopping experience for our customers. We want to eliminate the yellow and bring in some nice bright colors that accent the mall. We're also opening up areas with soft seating."

The food court will be getting a new color scheme, along with a custom play area for kids. Also, some parts of the mall will soon be carpeted. As far as the exterior, expect to see new signage and landscaping. Mall officials hope with the fresh new look they can bring in some new stores. Planning has been in the works for several months, and now that work is under way they are looking forward to showing off the finished product. The mall will remain open during construction, which is expected to wrap up in October.
