Chico Leaders Issue "Call to Action" to Fight Culture of Drinking

Jan 10, 2013 8:12 PM

Chico State, Chico Police, the Butte County Sheriff's Office, the Butte County Public Health Department, and many city leaders are joining forces, vowing to fight the culture of drinking that's been the source of problems for the city of Chico for decades. Last semester, Chico State President Paul Zingg announced that the university was suspending all Greek-related activities following at least one alcohol-related death, and other high-profile problems off campus related to drinking. Zingg and other city leaders say they're hoping to steer the image of Chico State away from being considered a "party school." The coalition will be placing at least one advertisement about their "Call for Community Action" in the Chico ER in the coming days.
