Chico Lacrosse Club Mourns Passing of Former Mentor

On Sunday, April 14, the Chico Lacrosse community a lost former Chico State Club player and former mentor of the Chico Rebels Cary Smith who died in his sleep at the age of 23 in Seal Beach, Calif., according to the Chico Rebels Lacrosse Club. The cause of his death remains unknown at this time and is being investigated by local authorities.

Smith was instrumental and inspirational to youth lacrosse players both here in the Chico area and in his hometown of Seal Beach where he returned to coach high school lacrosse about a year ago.

In honor of Cary Smith and to help young players heal from this loss, the Chico Rebels Boy's JV and Varsity teams will meet up with the Chico State Wildcat Men's Lacrosse team on the Chico State field tomorrow evening to celebrate Cary Smith's life and honor his memory. The club would greatly appreciate the community's support by attending this special practice beginning at 6 p.m. at the Chico State Stadium.
