Chico High grad Nahshon Garrett is on a mission at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in New York!!

The Cornell University senior won both his matches today to advance to the 133-pound FINALS!!

Garrett, the top seed and a perfect 36-0 on the year, defeated Earl Hall of Iowa State this morning in the quarterfinals. The match came with a bit of controversy. Hall had some sort of substance on his legs preventing Garrett from getting a grip on the Cyclone!! Officials believed it was vaseline. They stopped the match and issued injury time while instructing Iowa State coaches to towel off Hall. Despite the incident, Garrett kept his cool and managed to secure a 4-0 victory.

The semifinal match tonight was a different story. Garrett absolutely dominated, pinning Cody Brewer of Oklahoma in 21 seconds!! It was truly a sight to behold.

The victory sets up a championship match for Garrett. He will square off with the No. 2 seed, Cory Clark of Iowa at 5:00 p.m. on ESPN.

One more win and we'll have a national champion wrestler from Chico. How about that??
