The Chico Police Department Gang Unit has arrested a Chico man they say may be connected to a recent drive-by shooting on Humboldt Avenue.
During the course of the investigation the gang unit carried out multiple search warrants and evidence recovered led them to Tobias John Vigil Paiva, 18, of Chico.
Investigators say a white pickup stopped outside a residence on the 700 block of Humboldt Street and Paiva jumped out of the truck, brandished a gun and yelled gang-related slurs at a group of people standing outside.
About three hours later a drive-by shooting happened at the same Humboldt Ave residence.
Paiva was booked at the Chico Police Department then transported to Butte County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, making criminal threats, and committing crimes for the benefit of a street gang.
