Crews are investigating a fire at the Sigma Chi Fraternity House that broke out Friday morning in Chico.

Fire crews responded to a blaze on the 400 block of Ivy Street just after 3:00 a.m., Chico State students inside the house were able to get out in time.

Fire crews say the blaze started inside the home on the first floor, spread to the second floor, then spread through the attic.

Chico Fire Captain Joe Duran says firefighters put out the blaze very quickly.

"Most of the structure was saved," Capt. Duran said. "There's some extensive exterior damage on the first floor, the balcony is destroyed. The fire got into the attic, so there is a little bit of damage to that."

No injuries have been reported, the cause remains under investigation.
