Chico fire crews investigate cause of Lindo Channel Fires

Chico fire crews are investigating the cause of 3 spot fires that threatened homes in the Lindo Channel near Highway 99. A shelter in place was ordered for nearby residents, but no evacuations took place.

The fires broke out just before 7. Chico Fire crews along with Cal Fire Butte County attacked the flames from both ends of the channel on Manzanita and Lindo Avenues.
Despite winds helping the spread, fire crews were able to knock out the blaze in under half an hour. While the cause is still under investigation, Cal Fire crews tell us the fires are considered suspicious.

Crews have opened both Manzanita and Lindo Avenue and have cleared the scene. Because of the suspicious nature of the fires, they are asking for the public's help.
