There are reminders of the generous spirit of the holidays everywhere. And for one Chico family, an anonymous gift made all the difference this Christmas. For several years, cash-filled envelopes have been handed out randomly to families in-need as part of "Project Sidewalk." And this year, two days before Christmas, one Chico family says a couple pulled up to them as they walked through a parking lot on Cohasset Road, and handed them an envelope filled with $50. They weren't planning on buying Christmas presents, and when they saw the cash, they cried. Says mom Jessica Jenkins, "Then our little one Justin asked if we could buy Christmas presents, and that made us cry again." Dad Aaron Rakes says, "It made a big difference. My family has been struggling this year." When they are in a more financially-secure place, they plan to pay it forward.
